Week 10: Outside of Class

More Possible Kickstarter Campaigns

  1. The Insults Game
  2. Not Your Ma's Jong
  3. The Game of Lies
  4. A Purfect World Fair Trade Coffee Bistro & Rescue Cat Cafe

What I've Decided...

Out of all the Kickstarter campaigns, the 3 I find the most interesting and fun to create a web page for are:

A FEA.

Kickstarter - A FEA. Link

A FEA. is a “double walled glass mug” that you can put flowers within the spaces between the walls with epoxy. The creator of this product is Benjamin Meeks. I honestly believe this product has real potential if it’s successful. Every glass mug will be unique and have different designs since no two flowers are the same. Furthermore, you can put other materials within the epoxy walls such as, crushed candy, grass, leaves, etc. For this product I imagine a web page that is semi-elegant with a modern look to it. I don’t want the product to be viewed for only women to use though. Furthermore, I would want to use bright warm colors throughout the web page because a product like this seems to lean more towards warm weather conditions. The typography that I would use throughout the web page would most likely be serif. The only downside of this product is that it appears to already have a logo. Not sure if I can top it because it is very simple, and gets straight to the point of what the product is all about.

What the mug looks like

A Purfect World - Cat Rescue

Kickstarter - A Purfect World Link

This place, while it is still in process of being created, seems like a very fun and loving atmosphere. It will be the first of its kind in the state of Delaware, and will have some additional features once opened. It obviously targets animal lovers, especially cat ones. I would definitely create a web page that features cat-like characteristics such as pawprints, facial expressions, and cat fur patterns. A logo idea that came to mind when viewing this was a silhouette of both a cat and human hand reaching down towards the cat. The typography I would use on a web page for this is sans serif, and the web page’s colors would probably be like cocalico cat colors (brown-orangish, white, black). In addition, the web page will have a fun look to it because cats can be unpredictable and very playful creatures.

Witchy Hat Hard Enamel Series

Kickstarter - Witchy Hat Link

I’m not a pin wearing fanatic, but this looks very cute. It targets more of the female audience, although I’m sure there are some warlocks out there who would also purchase these pins. Perhaps I can create some additional warlock pins in Illustrator to add to the web page. Anyway, this series does not seem like a trend that will last long for it has more of a Halloween feel. I know there are people out there who wear want they want and don’t care about if it is in-style or in/out of season. But like I said earlier about creating additional pins, perhaps if there were other seasonal/holiday witch hats, that will make the web page more fun and interesting to look at. I would definitely use black as the primary color of the web page, with some bright “popping” out colors for headlines, and white text for the content. A good logo to consider for this is obviously a witch hat.

Additional Cat Cafe Research

Do you have to pay to enter a cat cafe?

Not all cat cafes charge an entry fee, but if they do most of the money will go towards maintaining the quality of care for the cats, and miscellaneous things (i.e. electricity, rent).

What's the average price cat cafes charge?

From what I've read, cat cafe entry fees can be between $5-$18. Some even charge by the hour. Depending how nice the cat cafe is, the more expensive it could be.

Can you make reservations?

Yes. People can make reservations for special events.

Can you adopt the cats in the cafe?

Of course! While it doesn't say anywhere, one of the cat cafe goals are to give furry animals forever homes.

Do cat cafes offer memberships?

Yes, they offer memberships and it allows people to keep coming because they get discounted rates.

List of Cat Cafes

Animal Logos

These are some cat logos that I can use for inspiration to create my own logo for the Purfect World - Cat Rescue. A lot of these logos feature some kind of characteristic of a cat.

Animal Web Design Layouts

Here are some websites I found of rescue sites. All of them have a huge image that is featured, and then some content underneath with links you can click to explore the site. Another thing these sites all have in common is a navigation bar, but we're not allowed to use those in this project.

Web Content Ideas

  • A description of what Purfect World is all about, and its goal(s)
  • Give a brief description of what a cat cafe is and where it originated.
  • The rules of what you can and can't do in the cat cafe and rescue
  • Photo gallery of the cats that you can adopt, and a brief description about them
    • Have an online adoption form underneath each photo
  • Updates about the place, events happening or going to happen, new cat(s), adopted cats
    • Sign-up link to become a VIP member and alerts by email or phone
  • Display a full menu of what the place offers
  • Make a reservations link

Visual Buttons Used Throughout Web Page

  • Home button
  • Instagram and Facebook icons
  • Email icon
  • Phone icon
  • Location icon
